Among them, semi-circular grooves with notches have become the most commonly used groove form in elevator traction wheels due to their high equivalent friction coefficient and low wear of the traction rope.

Material: High strength and wear-resistant materials such as ductile iron are preferred, which can withstand large tensile and frictional forces, ensuring the service life of the traction wheel.
Dimensional accuracy: Ensure that the wheel diameter, rope groove size, etc. meet the elevator design requirements, otherwise it will affect the traction capacity and wire rope life. For example, if the size error of the rope groove is too large, it will cause uneven stress on the steel wire rope.
Surface quality: The surface of the casting should be smooth, without defects such as sand holes, pores, cracks, etc., to prevent stress concentration during operation and reduce the strength of the traction wheel.
Uniformity of hardness: The hardness of the entire traction wheel should be uniform, otherwise it will cause uneven wear and affect the stability of elevator operation.
Manufacturing process and manufacturer qualifications: Choose manufacturers with good reputation, complete qualifications, and relevant certifications, such as ISO 9001 certification, as well as manufacturers with experience in the elevator industry, to ensure product quality and after-sales service.
Maintenance:
Regular inspection: Regularly check the wear of the traction wheel and observe whether there are obvious scratches, dents, or deformations on the surface of the wheel groove. If excessive wear is found, it is necessary to promptly evaluate whether to replace the traction wheel or adjust the position of the steel wire rope. At the same time, check whether the fixing bolts of the traction wheel are loose to ensure that the traction wheel is installed firmly and will not shake during operation.
Cleaning and maintenance: Regularly clean the traction wheel to remove impurities such as dust and oil on the surface of the traction wheel, prevent them from affecting the friction between the traction wheel and the steel wire rope, and reduce the operating efficiency and safety of the elevator. Clean cloths or cleaning agents can be used to gently wipe the surface of the traction wheel, but highly corrosive cleaning agents should be avoided to avoid damaging the traction wheel.
Lubrication: Proper lubrication can reduce the friction between the traction wheel and the steel wire rope, extending their service life. But lubrication should be moderate, too much lubricating oil may adsorb dust and instead aggravate wear. Generally, according to the requirements of the elevator user manual, suitable lubricants can be selected and lubricated according to the specified time and method.
Operation monitoring: closely monitor the operation status of the elevator. If abnormal noise, vibration, or unstable speed is found during the operation of the elevator, it should be stopped immediately and the traction wheel should be checked for any problems.
